This morning I was sitting at my desk, getting ready to start working, and I sat back and observed. Took in a deep breath, and it was….

Intoxicating.

With papers and books and folders and products all over my desk in a not-so-orderly fashion, (aka cluttered and messy) I take in a deep breath and my eyes land on this incredible display of beauty before me… a bouquet of white stargazer lilies and red roses that fill the room with a most amazing fragrance.

My mind takes a break from my busy desk and packed agenda for the day and is refreshed by a reminder of love. For me its two-fold. My immediate reminder is of how much my man loves me and likes to do little things for me. The fragrance of these lilies is so intoxicating and it reminds me of how intoxicating it is to love him and be loved by him. So I immediately send him a text message making sure he knew that. Never take for granted that someone knows how you feel. Always tell them so there’s never a missed opportunity.

But then as I continue to relish in the moment, my mind shifts to the *reason* these flowers are so amazing. It’s because my God created them this way. This fragrance reminds me also of HIS intoxicating love. He created these lilies and roses so perfectly in every single way. This brings SO many things to my mind at once like how my favorite attribute of God is His beauty and how everything he creates glorifies Him by its mere existence – but he chooses to give us beauty to ENJOY. It *feels* good to enjoy beauty!

But then I’m also reminded of Matthew 6:25-29 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”

He specifically shows us through his beauty in nature that He has everything under control and that He takes care of His creation. Nothing happens that He doesn’t know about! By trusting Him for our lives He will provide. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it, but when you take a step back there is always a bigger picture and He’s always working. As hard as it can be not to worry, God shows us we don’t need to. Because worrying will change nothing.

Anxiety is not from the Lord. So hand it to Him, lay it at His feet, so He can destroy it for you. Even if you have to do it 100 times a day.

“Lord thank you for the beauty you lay before us and the way you show us and remind us of your love through your creations. Forgive me for worrying about things. Please take this anxiety and worry. Take it from me and destroy it so that I’m not bound by it. I trust you.”
